Later Life audition

Jeannie, what are you looking for in the supporting male actor. I would think that I am too young looking.
Thanks
Jay

For the couple, it says the man is middle aged. What ever that means, but you know a lot depends on who the female is. And for all the other men the age is very broad. I hope to see you.

So I went to the audition on the second night. There were only 7 of us on the second night (5 female and 2 male) and the other male read the night before. Very small turn out the second night compared to my last audition at Kudzu where about 100 people auditioned over two nights.

Anyway, there are 4 parts in this play, the two main characters and 1 female and 1 male who both play multiple roles. The roles all reference older life within the play. Even though I could help in the reading and interaction, I don’t believe I will get a part.

And, well, tonight is callbacks and I have not received a call. Plays are very sparse this year. I might have to drive to Marietta.

Callbacks for Play On!

There were 30 people for callbacks on Thursday night. That’s 3 people for each role. Lane Teilhaber told us that there were nearly 100 people who auditioned for Play On! That’s huge for a community theatre. I knew upon arriving that I probably would not get a part.

Brink Miller, who has done many shows at Kudzu Playhouse as well as Stage Door Players, was also reading for HENRY. Brink looks the part age wise. I have seen Brink in 3 plays that I remember and he is very good. Remember HENRY is a 50+ character and, well, I look early 30’s.

Lane did tell us that he would only be calling those who received a role by 1 PM the next day. Already knowing that I did not receive a part, I get a phone call from Lane just before noon. I was a little shocked. Lane had called me to let me know that he could not use me in this play, but hoped that we could work together again. Lane is a great director to work for.

I am sure Lane has a superb cast for Play On! I plan on seeing it when it opens at Kudzu Playhouse.

Audition Notice: Play On

Kudzu Playhouse announces auditions for Play On, a behind the scenes comedy in the tradition of Noises Off. Seeking 7 women (late teens to late sixties), and 3 men (mid twenties to late sixties). Performances will be March 3-April 18, 2006. Audition requirements: Cold readings from the script. Non-Equity.
