Once in a Lifetime has closed

Once in a Lifetime closed on Sunday. We had great audiences: Friday was 40+, Saturday was adding extra seats, and Sunday was also 40+. Some theatres don’t get those kinds of numbers. What I don’t know is whether this is because of the short run, i.e. larger crowds because of less shows. Maybe it was because this was the Alliance Theatre. Or maybe because of a larger cast, 16 people, there was more self advertising. I don’t know.

Those audience were great, laughing at everything. We had a great cast and great audiences. Can’t ask for much more than that. Well maybe pay.

What I Did: Week Ending 2009-06-21

  • Crap. Upgraded to WordPress 2.8 and now need to fix my theme. #
  • The upgrade replaced some of the widgets I was using with new ones. #
  • Barbershop- Me: can you do this? (picture 20s hairstyle) Her: can't make it popup like that, but I can cut it short. Me: Thanks for playing. #
  • I have an appointment at a salon for a $50 haircut to get a 1920's period haircut for "Once in a Lifetime"… which opens Thursday night. #
  • I haven't written a blog post in a while. Maybe tomorrow. #
  • Leaving in 15 minutes for a Salon to cut my hair. 1920's here I come. My next play in August is also period, so 1 haircut 2 stage show. #

  • Funny that I should mention hair when my avatar pic is of me bald. Right at this moment I could pull my hair into a very short pony tail. #

Opening This Weekend

Once in a Lifetime finally opens this week (Thursday). This has been a little different from other productions. First it’s a student production. A wide range of experience from none to not very many. I suspect I am one of the few to have over 10 stage productions on their resume.

This will also be a very short run, only 4 shows. I try to avoid doing such short runs. A cast will work for weeks is not for two months or even longer and I want to have a good long run to make up for all the work I put into rehearsal. That’s just me. I enjoy the whole process, but a short run just does not seem worth it.

This is an exception of sorts. It is the Alliance Theatre! Although I cannot put just the Alliance Theatre on my resume, people will see Alliance Theatre Acting Program.

Last night was Tech. A lot of standing around, doing parts of scenes while lighting was done. While 10 of us were on stage at the very end of the show, for lighting, it got very quiet. Just then my bowels made a very loud, very long grumble. It was so embarrassing. Everybody heard it and looked in my direction. What was even funnier was that about 2 minutes later, the girl I was standing with also had a small grumbling in the tummy. Everybody fell out. Alpha Trivette made a comment: “Like the Whale Songs which can be heard 400 miles away…”

Anyway, I ramble.
